High time For Wrestler Sakshi Malik, all set to tie knot with Wrestler Satyawart Kadian

Sakshi Malik is all set to tie the knot and the lucky groom would be Satyawart Kadian, an international wrestler from Rohtak.

“It was decided before Sakshi left for Rio Olympics that they will get married,” Sakshi’s brother Sachin confirmed.

Satyawart picked up a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He also won a bronze at the Asian Championships in the same year.

Satyawart, who competes in 97kg category, is two years younger to Sakshi.

Satyawart also comes from a family of wrestlers and his father Satyawan was a renowned wrestler himself and runs an akhada in Rohtak.

Sakshi’s exploits are well known, especially after she won the bronze in Rio. Satyawart was one of the first people to congratulate Sakshi after she clinched India’s first medal in Rio.

On his Facebook page, Satyawart wrote “My Sweetheart #SakshiMalik ?You have made us proud.”

Sakshi’s medal is seen as a boost for many girls in Haryana who wish to take up sports. Satyawart is two years younger to Sakshi who turned 24 on Saturday.

Not just Sakshi, even Geeta Phogat is also getting hitched this year. Geeta, who is daughter of Mahavir Phogat, is the first Indian female wrestler to qualify for the Olympics in London and has won a world championship medal.

Geeta will also tie the knot with a wrestler named Pawan in December.

Satyawart, first represented India at the inaugural 2010 Youth Olympics where he won a bronze medal in the boys’ freestyle 100 kg category.

Earlier, The Haryana Government has announced the appointment of Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Malik as Wrestling Director at Maharshi Dayanand University in her native town Rohtak.

Announcing this, Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij, also said that she will be given Rs 21 lakh out of his discretionary fund and a plot measuring 500 square yards.
